UConn men’s hockey sophomore defenseman Bauer Swift has entered the transfer portal according to various trackers. A native of West Hartford, he didn’t see any game action in two seasons with the Huskies.
Originally committed to Division III Hobart College, Swift joined UConn as a reserve blue liner ahead of the 2023-24 season after Aidan Metcalfe left the team to focus on academics. Swift was well-regarded in the program, he just couldn’t crack the lineup and will now go elsewhere in search of playing time.
He’s the second defenseman to enter the transfer portal this offseason, joining Jack Pascucci. The Huskies currently have six blue liners on their roster, leaving two open slots for potential additions.

Puck drop between Denver and Western Michigan is set for 5 p.m. ET while Penn State and BU is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Carabin signs a pro deal
Nick Carabin is off to the ECHL after signing a standard player contract with the Reading Royals. After transferring in from Princeton, the defenseman spent one season at UConn, where he racked up three goals and six assists while playing all 39 games.
Carabin will be teammates with former Husky Nick Capone, who has six assists and no goals in 47 games with the Royals.
