UConn men’s hockey didn’t have to look far to add its second ‘06 commitment. After landing forward Colin Frank in September, the Huskies added one of his former teammates: Defenseman Brendan Dunphy out of San Diego, California.

Listed at 6-foot-5, 198 pounds with a left-handed shot, Dunphy played for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks alongside Frank through the past season. He’s now in the BCHL with the Langley Rivermen, where he’s played in five games and has one assist.

Dunphy’s towering presence and ability to contribute on both ends of the ice make him a key addition to our defence,” Rivermen head coach Burt Henderson told the team’s website. “We’re confident that he will fit in perfectly with our team and make a significant impact.

Brendan has great size, is very mobile, and an excellent puck mover,” Rivermen associate head coach Tyler Kuntz added. “He had a great showing for USA Hockey at the BioSteel camp finishing 2nd place for the Pacific District. He is young and developing and offers us a player that will grow through our program and prepare him for the challenges of NCAA hockey.”
