After getting last weekend off following its dramatic Connecticut Ice championship win over Quinnipiac, UConn didn’t look ready to return to action against Northeastern on Friday. The visiting Huskies came out flat, allowing the hosts to pile on the first six shots of the game.

Luckily, goaltender Tyler Muszelik was locked in from the opening face-off and prevented UConn from falling into an early hole.

“They had two grade-A scoring chances early and he stopped them,” head coach Mike Cavanaugh said postgame. “That was big for us.”

From there, the Huskies settled in and took control of the contest. Muszelik only needed to turn away 10 more shots over the final 55 minutes to earn his second shutout of the season in a 2-0 win at Bentley Arena.

“I was just keeping things simple,” Muszelik said postgame. “I've really been focused on just being consistent, so I was just prepared, calm and played my game.”
