As Connecticut’s two premier hockey programs battled for state supremacy in the CT Ice final on Saturday night at Ingalls Rink, a local kid ended up deciding the champion. Avon native Jake Percival scored with 2:25 left in regulation to lift UConn to a 4-2 victory over Quinnipiac — and with it, the program’s second consecutive CT Ice title.
“He was the only Connecticut [native] we had on the ice tonight,” UConn head coach Mike Cavanaugh said postgame. “For him to get the game winner, that's a great way to end his Connecticut ice career.”
