UConn women’s hockey made a major addition out of the transfer portal, landing junior forward Julia Pellerin. Last season at Boston College, she led all of Hockey East with 20 goals and finished fourth with 34 points, both of which would’ve led the Huskies and were top marks in the portal. She earned a spot on the all-league first team.

A native of Windham, New Hampshire, the 5-6 Pellerin spent her first two seasons with the Eagles before hitting the portal this offseason. She put up 12 goals and seven assists as a freshman, good for all-rookie honors.

If the Pellerin sounds familiar, her dad, Scott, starred at Maine from 1988-1992 and won the Hobey Baker Award as a senior. He played 536 games in the NHL across 11 seasons.

Pellerin will add much-needed goal scoring to a UConn team that relied on its defense last season. The Huskies scored just 80 goals on a .075 shooting percentage, which ranked fifth and seventh in the league, respectively. Despite that, Pellerin will join a strong young core up top that also features Hockey East Freshman of the Year Claire Murdoch (13-16—29) and rising junior Ashley Allard (7-19—26).

UConn will try to three-peat as Hockey East Regular Season champions while aiming to return to the NCAA Tournament after missing out this past year.
