UConn women's hockey picked second in Hockey East Preseason Coaches' Poll

In the annual Hockey East Preseason Coaches’ Poll, UConn women’s hockey came in second place and received two first-place votes — the same spot it finished last season. Reigning regular-season champions Northeastern earned the top spot with eight first-place votes.

UConn has claimed at least one conference championship in three consecutive seasons. In 2023-24, the Huskies swept both the regular season and tournament titles. In 2024-25, they won the regular season crown and in 2025-26, they captured the tournament championship. UConn defeated Northeastern in the Hockey East title game in both 2024 and 2026.

Across the rest of the poll, Boston College took third place while Boston University and Holy Cross tied for fourth place. Vermont landed in sixth, followed in order by UNH, Maine, Providence and Merrimack.

In the USCHO Preseason Poll, the Huskies came in at No. 7 nationally. They’ll face five other teams in the top 15 this season: No. 6 Quinnipiac (exhibition on Sept. 19), No. 12 Clarkson (Oct. 2-3), No. 8 Princeton (Oct. 16-17), No. 15 Mercyhurst (Oct. 23-24) and No. 5 Northeastern (Jan. 22-23, Feb. 20).

UConn will get its first game action this Saturday in the aforementioned exhibition against Quinnipiac at Toscano Family Ice Forum.
