A troubling trend is beginning to emerge for UConn men’s hockey through seven games: The Huskies are creating plenty of chances — they just aren’t finishing them.

It’s an issue that cropped up again in Friday night’s 1-1 tie with Harvard. UConn generated 37 shots but only buried a single one, good for a season-low 2.7 shooting percentage. The Huskies wasted numerous odd-man rushes, breakaways and other dangerous chances all throughout the contest.

It didn’t help that Crimson goaltender Ben Charette stood on his head at times, too.

“Their goalie, I thought, kind of kept them in it,” head coach Mike Cavanaugh said. “We had some good, really good chances and he was playing fantastic.”

Still, UConn’s lack of scoring can’t be blamed on a single goaltender.
