UConn ranked No. 15 in USCHO Preseason Poll

UConn men’s hockey will begin the 2026-27 season as the No. 15 team in the country. The Huskies landed in the USCHO Preseason Poll for the just the second time in program history after coming in at No. 10 a year ago.

Last season, UConn was ranked from start to finish for the first time ever. It climbed as high as No. 9 and fell as low as No. 14 before ultimately ending up at No. 13.

The Huskies are one of six Hockey East teams in the preseason poll alongside No. 9 Providence, No. 10 UMass, No. 12 Boston College, No. 16 Boston University and No. 20 Merrimack. Northeastern, Maine and New Hampshire all received votes as well.

Reigning national champions Denver topped the poll with 35 first-place votes, while No. 2 Michigan (six), No. 3 Michigan State (seven) and No. 4 North Dakota (two) secured the rest.

In addition to its conference-mates, UConn will play No. 17 Penn State and could face No. 7 Quinnipiac in CT Ice. Elsewhere on the schedule, Ohio State, Bowling Green, Colorado College and Sacred Heart all picked up votes.

The Huskies begin the season on Friday, Oct. 9 against the aforementioned Nittany Lions as part of the IceBreakers Tournament at Toscano Family Ice Forum.
