UConn men’s hockey will head to Milwaukee next season to participate in the 2024 Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off at the Fiserv Forum on Dec. 28 and 29. The Huskies will be joined by hosts Wisconsin, Alaska Fairbanks and Ferris State.
Matchups and times will be announced at a later date.
This will be UConn’s first holiday tournament since 2019, when it traveled to Dartmouth for the Ledyard Classic. The Huskies were supposed to play in the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off in 2020, only for the Covid pandemic to upend all non-conference play. The team hasn’t gotten on a plane since the 2021-22 season when it traveled to Ohio State.
Depending on the matchups, UConn could get a marquee non-conference game on its schedule if it faces Wisconsin. The Badgers are currently the No. 9 team in the nation and are a lock for the NCAA Tournament. Meanwhile, Alaska Fairbanks is currently 27th in Pairwise while Ferris State is 63rd — the second-worst team in the nation.
The Huskies have four games locked on their non-conference schedule for next season: The Holiday Face-Off and CT Ice. The rest of the slate will include series against both an ECAC and Atlantic Hockey foes and two other one-off contests.
