UConn men’s hockey added a future goaltender this past week, landing a commitment from ‘06 goaltender Kam Hendrickson.

A native of Chanhassen, Minnesota, he’s listed at 6-2, 185 pounds and catches with his right hand. He’ll begin his first full season in the USHL with the Omaha Lancers this fall, though he appeared in seven games with the team at the end of the 2023-24 campaign after graduating from Chanhassen High School.

As a senior, Hendrickson put up a 1.01 goals against average and .951 save percentage while backstopping the Storm to their first-ever Class AA state championship game, where they fell to Edina, 2-1. He also won the 2024 Frank Brimsek Award, which is annually given to the top graduating goaltender in the state of Minnesota.

Hendrickson suited up for Team USA’s U18 squad at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in 2023, where he started one game and came away with a bronze medal.

A one-time Princeton commit, his arrival in Storrs is still up in the air. UConn currently has two starting caliber goaltenders in Tyler Muszelik and Callum Tung, so the Hendrickson won’t join the team until one of them departs. At the latest, he’ll be on the squad in 2026-27 when Muszelik graduates.
