There are quite a few quirks to the Huskies' upcoming slate.

On Thursday, UConn men’s hockey released its 2026-27 schedule, which features quite a few quirks.

The Huskies will open their season with the Ice Breaker Tournament at Toscano Family Ice Forum. UConn will welcome Penn State on Friday, Oct. 9 followed by Bowling Green the next night.

Hockey East play kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 22 with Boston University. The Huskies will play 24 league games in total.

UConn is set to host four home games at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford: Northeastern on Nov. 14, UMass Lowell on Jan. 9, Maine on Jan. 16 and UMass on Feb. 27 — all Saturdays.

Notably, the annual Connecticut Ice tournament is set to continue on Jan. 29-30, though the location has not yet been revealed. The Huskies have come out on top in each of the last two years.

The first half will close with a trip to Ohio State on Dec. 11-12 and will resume at home with Merrimack on Saturday, Jan. 2. The regular season wraps up on Saturday, Mar. 6 when Providence visits Toscano Family Ice Forum.

Elsewhere in the non-conference, UConn will take on Colorado College at home on Oct. 16-17 and also travel to Belfast for the Friendship Four Tournament to play Colgate on Nov. 27 followed by either Providence or Minnesota Duluth on Nov. 28.

The Huskies will see every team in Hockey East at least twice, then take on Merrimack (away on Oct. 30-31, home on Jan. 2), Providence (away on Nov. 5, home on Nov. 7, Mar. 6), UNH (home on Nov. 19, away on Nov. 21 and Mar. 4) and Northeastern (home on Nov. 13-14, Feb. 5) three times. Every game with Northeastern will be in Connecticut since the other Huskies are currently building a new rink.

UConn only has a single traditional Friday-Saturday home-and-home on the entire schedule: Boston College on Feb. 12 (away) and Feb. 13 (home). BU, Providence, New Hampshire, UMass Lowell and UMass are all Thursday-Saturday series. Meanwhile, the Huskies will play back-to-back road games with Merrimack (Oct. 30-31) and Vermont (Feb. 19-20) while hosting Maine for a pair (Jan. 15-16).

There are just five weekday games, all of which are scheduled for Thursday nights.

Even though half of UConn’s games will come at home, it’s not a particularly balanced schedule. The Huskies begin the season with five games at home followed by four games on the road, four games at home, then another five away from Connecticut to close the first half.
