UConn men's hockey lands commitment from '05 forward Carter Sproule
The Huskies make an addition to next season’s roster.
UConn men’s hockey picked up a new commitment from ‘05 forward Carter Sproule. A native of Grand Forks, North Dakota — the first player from the state in the program’s Hockey East Era — he’s listed at 6-3, 207 pounds with a left-handed shot. Sproule will turn 21 in February, so he’ll join the Huskies next season.
He’s currently the captain of the NAHL’s Watertown Shamrocks, where he has 10 goals and 20 assists in 19 games so far this season. Neutral Zone rates him as a 3.5 star recruit and ranked him 19th among 2005-born prospects in the NAHL.
UConn is set to lose five senior forwards after this season, so Sproule will help to replace that group. At the moment, the Huskies project to add five forwards for 2026-27 — Brittan Alstead, Samuel Boisvert, Colin Frank, Diego Johnson, Sproule and Elias Straume Vatne — though that’s always subject to change given the unpredictable nature of hockey recruiting.
