UConn knew the stakes going into the Hockey East Quarterfinals on Saturday. With a loss to Boston University, the Huskies’ season would be over.

But they didn’t try to shove that into the back of their minds as they began their preparations for the playoffs. They spoke openly about it — especially the seniors.

“We just love each other so much, we did not want this to be the last time we played with each other,” Jake Percival said. “We went without a rope on, climbing a rock. If you fall, you're done.

“But we didn't fall.”

Instead, UConn pulled out a hard-fought 5-3 victory over the Terriers. The Huskies went ahead twice in the first two periods, only for BU to answer back each time. But in the third, UConn outscored the visitors 3-1 to come out on top.

“That was a gutsy one,” Percival said.
