After claiming the Hockey East regular-season crown, UConn women’s hockey had two players honored in the league’s annual awards. Kathryn Stockdale was named the Best Defensive Forward Award while freshman forward Ashley Allard was named to the All-Rookie Team.

Stockdale ended the regular season with a +11 plus/minus and, despite the award she just won, was also fifth on the team in points with 17 (10 goals, 7 assists). The senior from Ottawa has played in almost every game since she arrived on campus, playing all 20 games her freshman season and 30+ in every year since.

Allard finished just below Stockdale for sixth on the team with 15 points (5 goals, 10 assists) and a plus/minus of +15, good for third-best on the squad. She’s been a playmaker for the Huskies across the season and provides hope for continued success with the program alongside a talented, experienced core.

The Huskies begin Hockey East Tournament play on March 2 at Toscano Family Ice Forum. The puck will drop at 1 p.m. and the game will be televised on NESN+.

After the first round games on Wednesday, UConn will play Holy Cross. The 10-seed Crusaders upset the 7-seed Boston University while 9-seed Merrimack beat 8-seed Maine.
