UConn head coach Mike Cavanaugh typically doesn’t like to use traditional labels for his forward groupings — first line, second line, etc. But in Friday’s win, the combination of Jake Richard, Ryan Tattle and Joey Muldowney — which is listed first on the chart — played like a top line.
Muldowney buried two goals while both Richard and Tattle finished with a pair of assists, contributing to three scores on the night. They terrorized the Catamounts every time they stepped on the ice.
“They were great tonight,” Cavanaugh said. “They were by far our best line tonight. When they were on the ice, they were dangerous.”
