The fourth edition of Connecticut Ice — the tournament between the state’s four Division I men’s hockey programs — will take place at the XL Center on Jan. 2-27, 2024, UConn announced on Tuesday. SNY will broadcast all four games live in the tri-state area. Additional information — such as start times, streaming platforms and ticketing — will be released later.

The tournament has also been extended for two additions seasons beyond the upcoming one. The Huskies will host in 2024, followed by Sacred Heart in 2025 and Yale in 2026. The first two years were held at Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport before moving to home venues this past year when Quinnipiac played host.

While UConn did not include it in the release, it will open the tournament against Sacred Heart while Quinnipiac and Yale will face-off in the opening game. The Huskies have reached the final each of the last two seasons, only to fall to Quinnipiac each time.

CT Ice has not always had steady footing since its inception in 2019. COVID forced the cancelation of the second edition of the tournament in 2021 and SNY dropped its sponsorship after 2022. In 2023, the event wasn’t formally announced until days before it began due to negotiations with the network over the rights to the tournament.

Tuesday’s announcement will (hopefully) provide CT Ice with the stability and continuity that it needs to grow and last into the future.
