UConn transfer Samu Salminen has committed to the Denver Pioneers, according to the Grand Forks Herald. Salminen initially picked Denver out of juniors before hitting admissions trouble, which is how he ended up with the Huskies. The Pioneers won the 2024 national championship over Boston College on Saturday.
Salminen, a third round pick of the New Jersey Devils in 2021, totaled 17 points in each of his two seasons at UConn. He arrival to Storrs was delayed due to a visa issue and he didn’t join the team until late October 2022. This past season, Salminen scored what is believed to be the first Michigan goal in program history.

Four of the Huskies’ five outgoing transfers have all found new homes. Matthew Wood is headed for Minnesota, Arsenii Sergeev landed at Penn State, Jake Black committed to Bentley and now Salminen is off to Denver. Only Mark D’Agostino is still available.
UConn has added just one transfer this offseason: Defenseman Nick Carabin from Princeton. The Huskies intend to bring in a pair of forwards and a goaltender to replace Wood, Salminen and Sergeev but haven’t been successful as of yet. They were reportedly in the mix for Northeastern forward Gunnarwolfe Fontaine, but he ultimately chose Ohio State.
