UConn delivers statement sweep on opening weekend: "We had something to prove"
While the Huskies came into the season without much in the way of external expectations, they opened some eyes with two comfortable victories over Colgate.

On Saturday night, UConn men’s hockey’s 6-2 win over the Colgate Raiders showed off all the way’s this year’s team is different than the last.
The Huskies allowed the first goal but didn’t get down on themselves. They failed to capitalize on six grade-A chances in the first period but never got frustrated. They used their speed to out-skate the Raiders all over the ice. They finished with six goals — more than they scored in any game at Toscano Family Ice Forum last season.
“Last year we didn't have too many sweeps (or any, in fact), so to come out here and do it the first weekend, it's awesome,” Joey Muldowney said postgame.
