UConn men’s hockey will make its final trip to historic Matthews Arena on Saturday, Mar. 1 as part of a home-and-home weekend with Northeastern. The Huskies will host the other Huskies in Connecticut the night before on Friday, Feb. 28.
After this upcoming season, Matthews Arena will be torn down and replaced with a new facility. Last year, Northeastern found major structural deficiencies and closed parts of the arena. Additional support beams were added to an outside wall as well.
This series will fall in the exact same weekend as last year’s and is once again late in the season. Of the home-and-homes that the two sides have played since UConn joined Hockey East, every single one has come after the calendar flipped to February.
2015: Feb. 13-14
2016: Feb. 19-20
2017: Feb. 17-18
2022: Feb. 25-26
2024: Mar. 1-2
There are now 11 dates out on UConn’s schedule:
