Three UConn players selected in 2026 PWHL Draft

Tia Chan, Kyla Josifovic and Megan Woodworth all went in the span of 11 picks.

In the first three editions of the PWHL Draft, only two UConn players were selected. But on Wednesday in Detroit, three Huskies were taken in the league’s latest draft.

Tia Chan became the highest pick in program history, going in the third round (28th overall) to the unnamed San Jose franchise. 11 spots later, Kyla Josifovic went to Detroit in the fourth round (39th overall) while Megan Woodworth followed two selections later to Hamilton (41st overall).

Chan was the second net-minder off the board. A two-time Hockey East Goaltender of the Year (2025, 2026), she graduated as UConn’s career leader in wins (70), save percentage (.946) and shutouts (25) while ranking second in career saves (3,293) and goals against average (1.52).

Meanwhile, Josifovic had one of the best single-seasons ever by a Husky. She finished with 40 points on 16 goals and 24 assists, becoming just the fourth player to reach the 40-point plateau in program history. Josifovic also scored the overtime game-winner in the Hockey East championship versus Northeastern and netted a pair in UConn’s first-ever NCAA Tournament win.

Woodworth also recorded an overtime game-winner in the Hockey East final against Northeastern, though hers came back in 2024. She set career-highs with 16 goals, 11 assists and 27 points as a senior.

Ava Rinker and Jada Habisch were the first UConn players ever selected, going with back-to-back picks (30th and 31st overall) in the 2025 draft to Minnesota and Seattle, respectively.
