Schedule update: UConn men's hockey to play Merrimack this weekend
The Huskies will play a team near the bottom of the standings for the first time this season.
UConn men’s hockey will play the Merrimack Warriors this weekend, Hockey East announced on Tuesday. The league is scheduling games week-by-week throughout the end of the regular season.
UConn will host Merrimack on Friday, Jan. 29 for a 3:00 p.m. puck drop before making the return trip to North Andover, Massachusetts on Saturday, Jan. 30 for another 3:00 p.m. start.
For as tough of a schedule as UConn has played (all but one opponent has been ranked), Merrimack’s slate has been just as difficult. Though the Warriors hold a 2-7-1 record, they played then-No. 8 UMass, No. 17 Northeastern and No. 3 Boston College in their first eight games.
The two teams have faced off 38 times, including 11 times in Hockey East. Merrimack holds the all-time edge 29-5-4 and 3-6-5 in conference play. Last season, the Warriors claimed two of three matchups against the Huskies.
