Over the last two seasons, UConn men’s hockey gave up just a single shorthanded goal. In fact, the Huskies allowed just two shorties over a span of 76 games from Feb. 2021 until this start of the current campaign.

Yet through three games this year, UConn has given up two shorthanded goals. The Huskies’ power play is -1, having converted on just one of its 13 opportunities.

The unit isn’t just toothless. It’s actively hurt UConn this season — especially in the team’s 2-1 loss to Holy Cross on Friday night.
