Once again, UConn watches Quinnipiac lift the CT Ice trophy

Down one end of the XL Center ice, Quinnipiac’s gloves and helmets were strewn all over from its celebration after claiming a third consecutive Connecticut Ice championship. On the other side, UConn men’s hockey had to take in the defeat after falling 4-3.
The Huskies have gotten used to the feeling. UConn has watched the Bobcats raise the CT Ice trophy three years in a row — even though it held a lead in each of the last two tournaments.
In 2023, the Huskies were up 3-2 entering the third period before Quinnipiac scored twice over the final 20 minutes to pull out the victory. On Saturday, UConn went up 3-1 in the second period only for the Bobcats to score three unanswered goals to take the title.
“Congratulations to Quinnipiac. They found a way to win it — again,” head coach Mike Cavanaugh said postgame.
