UConn loses associate head coach Nick Peruzzi to Wisconsin
The Huskies will have a new assistant coach in 2026-27 for the third time in as many years.
After two years in Storrs, UConn associate head coach Nick Peruzzi is leaving the program to join Wisconsin. The Badgers officially announced the move on Wednesday.
“Nick has established himself as one of the brightest young coaches in college hockey through his ability to develop student-athletes, build strong relationships, and contribute to winning programs,” Wisconsin head coach Mike Hastings said in a release. “His passion for the game, commitment to player development, and recruiting experience make him an outstanding addition to our staff.”
Peruzzi worked with UConn’s forwards and also ran the penalty kill. In 2024-25, the Huskies’ nine shorthanded goals led the nation (alongside St. Thomas). He is also a strong recruiter who helped the Huskies bring in the likes of Viking Gustafsson Nyberg, rising sophomore Alexandre Blais, Omaha transfer Jeremy Loranger and redshirt freshman Carter Sproule. Peruzzi was a key reason UConn put together the two best seasons in program history during his tenure.
A native of Rochester Hills, Michigan, he served as an assistant coach in his first year before being promoted to associate head coach ahead of this past campaign.
Before arriving in Storrs, Peruzzi spent the previous three years at Northern Michigan. He also worked at the junior level with the USHL’s Lincoln Stars (2020-21) and Youngstown Phantoms (2017-20) as well as the NAHL’s Aston Rebels (2016-17). Now, he’ll depart for a Wisconsin program that reached that national championship game in 2026.
With Peruzzi gone, head coach Mike Cavanaugh will have to hire a third new assistant in as many seasons. In 2024, Peruzzi replaced Mike Pereira. Last offseason, Alex Westlund came in after Vince Stalletti took a job with the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds. UConn has already begun interviewing potential candidates.
While Cavanaugh used to prefer hiring young assistants with limited experience, he’s shifted his philosophy recently. Peruzzi had three years under his belt at the Division I level while Westlund spent the previous two seasons as the Detroit Red Wings’ goaltender coach (as well as five seasons with the AHL’s Hershey Bears) before joining the Huskies.
Men, You've Been Misinformed
Men's skin is about 25% thicker than women's, but thicker skin doesn't mean better aging. It means delayed collapse. For years, your skin looks resilient. Then collagen declines, and when it does, it drops hard: deeper wrinkles, heavier under-eye bags, more dark spots showing up all at once.
Most men were never taught to get ahead of this. Women were. And by the time the signs show up, you're playing catch-up.
Particle Face Cream was built precisely for this. One 6-in-1 formula engineered for men's skin — reduces eye bags, dark spots, and wrinkles, restores firmness, hydrates deeply, and revives dull tone. No complicated routine. Over 1,000,000 men already use it. Try it risk-free with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
