After putting together one of the best seasons in UConn history, sophomore forward Joey Muldowney earned CCM/ACHA Second Team All-American honors on Friday.

During the 2024-25 campaign, Muldowney racked up 29 goals and 47 points, both of which were single-season records in the Huskies’ Division I Era (1998-present). He notched three hat tricks along the way, most by any player in a given year since the team joined Hockey East in 2014. Behind that production, Muldowney helped lead UConn to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.

After putting up just five goals and nine assists as a freshman, the Lake View, New York native took off during his second season in Storrs. Muldowney opened with just four goals in the first half but then caught fire after the winter break. He scored in the Holiday Face-Off final against Wisconsin, added two the next game vs. Harvard then exploded for four soon after in a win at Maine.

Muldowney put up five goals in the Hockey East Tournament — including the first hat trick in the semifinals since 2006 — and lit the lamp in each NCAA Tournament game as well.

He’s the Huskies’ third Division I All-American — joining Jonny Evans (2020-21) and Ryan Tverberg (2021-22), who were also second teamers — and the 10th overall. Muldowney earned Hockey East Second Team All-Star honors earlier this season as well.

A sixth-round pick of the San Jose Sharks in 2022, he’s expected to return for his junior year at UConn despite the breakout campaign.
