How UConn unraveled in the brutal loss to Maine
Missed opportunities and a late slide set the Huskies back in devastating fashion.

UConn men’s hockey’s collapse on Friday happened in two parts.
The Huskies missed too many opportunities in the opening period. They jumped out to a 2-0 lead just over four minutes in and could’ve extended it further. They had numerous grade-A chances, yet the scoreline held at 2-0.
Matthew Wood hit the crossbar and was later denied on a breakaway. During a penalty kill, UConn had multiple chances close to the net but didn’t put any away. A third goal would’ve helped put this game further out of reach, as Mike Cavanaugh’s squad would need every goal.
“We had so many chances to make it three, four-nothing and we didn't capitalize,” Cavanaugh said.
