How a change in attitude sparked UConn's third period comeback: 'Let's just go play'
The Huskies mounted a late comeback to flip a would-be weekend sweep into a 2-2 tie and shootout victory against Providence on Saturday night.

Entering the third period, UConn men’s hockey found itself trailing the No. 15 Providence Friars 2-0. The Huskies were lifeless on offense, registering just 17 shots on net to that point — few of which even threatened to go in.
With just one goal through five periods on the weekend, UConn looked demoralized.
“I thought we were tight,” head coach Mike Cavanaugh said postgame. “We were just really focused on the result instead of just going out and playing our brand.”
So the Huskies changed their attitude and decided to let go of the scoreline.
“The message was: No matter what happens in this game, it's not going to make or break our season. Let's just go play,” Cavanaugh said.
The trick worked.
