Defensive breakdowns catch up with UConn in 4-1 loss at Merrimack
The Huskies played with fire in the first two periods before ultimately getting burnt in the third.

For the third straight game, UConn men’s hockey found itself tied entering the third period. Despite a less-than-stellar performance through the first 40 minutes on Friday night, the Huskies still had a chance to pull off a victory at Merrimack. They just needed to finish strong.
“You win the period, you win the game,” head coach Mike Cavanaugh said.
Instead, UConn allowed three unanswered goals in a 4-1 defeat. The Huskies were plagued by defensive breakdowns throughout the contest — they played with fire and were finally burnt in the third period.
